Carlos Beltran played his first game as a member of the San Francisco Giants tonight in Philadelphia.

He started in right field and batted third.

Beltran went 0-for-4: groundout, strikeout, another strikeout and flyout.

In that first AB, he was also booed by Phillies fans.

On his first fielding chance as a Giant, he made a sliding catch in the fifth to keep Jimmy Rollins off the basepaths.

As for Beltran’s expected effect on the batters around him: Jeff Keppinger also went 0-for-4, but Pablo Sandoval homered and Aubrey Huff doubled and walked. Those two got the Giants’ only extra-base hits.

Beltran was never up with any runners on base.

With him in right, Andres Torres patrolled center and Nate Schierholtz played left.

The Giants beat the Phillies 4-1.
