San Francisco Giants Now Hold Longest Solo Homer Streak
No team has ever hit more consecutive solo home runs than this year’s San Francisco Giants.
With two outs and the bases empty, third baseman Pablo Sandoval dropped a Ricky Nolasco fastball in the seats.
It was the 20th time in a row a Giants home run came with no one base.
The last time a Giant hit a long ball to drive in someone besides himself was on July 6 against the San Diego Padres.
In the fourth, Nate Schierholtz hit a two-out homer with Sandoval on second.
It was also Schierholtz who started this streak.
He led off the tenth inning of that same game with a walk-off shot.
The previous record of 19 had been set by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1914.
