2012 NBA Draft Grade: Bradley Beal
Peter G. Aiken-US PRESSWIRE

Freshman Bradley Beal came in to be Florida head coach Billy Donovan’s new creator on offense. Beal led the team with 34.2 minutes per contest, performing extremely well by averaging 14.8 points per game. After a season cut short by a 72-68 upset at the hands of the Louisville Cardinals , Beal decided to go pro after just one year in college, like much of the young star athletes these days. Below is my full draft report of Florida’s shooting guard, Bradley Beal:

2011-12 College Average: 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.8 blocks, 2.1 turnovers

Scoring: A Beal is a pure shooter from the outside, but is still not afraid to drive the lane. He is an extremely dangerous scorer from everywhere on the floor and will be a matchup nightmare at the next level. His draft stock has been skyrocketing all year and “Double B” certainly made enough noise to warrant a top-15 selection on draft day.

Rebounding: B- One aspect of Beal’s game this is lacking is definitely his rebounding ability. Beal at times seems intimidated to enter the paint and it will only become more apparent as he starts getting minutes in the NBA.

Size: B- At only six-foot-three, Beal may be a little undersized to play shooting guard, but that is what they said about Milwaukee’s Monta Ellis and look at the career he has put together. Beal may be a little shorter than most two-guards, but his lack of size makes him extremely elusive in the open court.

Athleticism: A – Beal showed his athletic ability every time he scored a basket in the paint. He made a living by getting impossible shots to drop in his first year and showed glimpses of becoming a true superstar.

Projection: Top Ten Pick

NBA Comparison: Portland Trail Blazer’s Jamal Crawford
