The newest member of the Major League Soccer family is getting excited for their home opener on March 17.

Being new at something can be very exciting and scary at the same time.  When you are a child and you start a new school you have the excitement but nervous feeling at the same time.

That is the feeling that the Montreal Impact is feeling as they are getting ready for their home opener on March 17 against Chicago Fire. When MLS commissioner awarded Montreal an MLS team, it may have been his best decision as commissioner. The city of Montreal will do great. It is exactly what the city needed with all their youth soccer programs already.

Montreal was the 17th team added to the Major League Soccer brand and after the succes of seattle and Vancouver, the skies truly are the limit.

The first year will not be easy though since the Impact are in the East and the East has some stiff competition, starting with their first game with Chicago.

The Montreal Impact could attract the largest crowd its home city has ever seen for a professional soccer match when the team makes its debut home-opener against the Chicago Fire on March 17.

More than 25,000 tickets were sold in less than 48 hours after individual game tickets went on sale for the game this week.

The record in 1981 for attendance, set by the Montreal Manic of the North American Soccer League, is 58,452. That record is expected to be broken with this home-opener game on March 17.

The start of the MLS season is just a little over a month away and the Impact and the city of Montreal can’t wait!
