UEFA Champions League : Lille F Eden Hazard Signs Five-Year Deal $50 Million Deal with Chelsea.

LONDON – In the case of the rich getting richer, Chelsea may have just inked their replacement of departing striker Didier Drogba in the form of Lille striker Eden Hazard.

According to Goal.com, the 21-year old Belgian striker has signed with the European champion Chelsea Blues for $50 million U.S. dollars.

Hazard would score 20 league goals for Ligue 1 French club, Lille OSC in 35 appearances would announce on his Twitter that he has chosen to sign with the European champions next season.

The European champion Blues would beat out English Premier League champion, Manchester City and perennial powerhouse Manchester United in a bid for the talented striker’s services.

Local London rival, Arsenal, was also rumored to have been interested in Hazard. The Telegraph would state that the deal is for five years and worth $157,055 a week.

The signing of Hazard now gives Chelsea a even more dangerous and potent set of strikers that will be sure to give fits to fellow Premier League rivals in the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Can Chelsea repeat with Hazard?  It may be possible.

Will they? That remains to be seen, but the Hazard signing makes a deadly Blues team ever more dangerous.

With the signing of Hazard, Chelsea may have found more than a adequate replacement for Drogba, but with their young core of talent in Juan Mata, Salomon Kalou and Ramires, the Blues may have secured the proper talent to realistically add more silverware to their already burgeoning trophy case at Stamford Bridge and repeat as champions of Europe.
