Danny Welbeck of England had one heck of a goal in the Euro 12 on Friday.  England was taking on Sweden when Welbeck scored an amazing back heel goal en route to a 3-2 victory that saw Sweden eliminated from the tournament.

I am not going to lie, I know very little about soccer unless it involves the USMNT.  Even then, I do not know a lot about it in general.  However, I can appreciate great plays like this when I see it.   Danny Welbeck did something that not a lot of people can do.  He made it look fairly easy and it was part of England’s rally to victory.

I have actually enjoyed watching the Euro 2012 this year.  It has been plastered all over ESPN so I have watched a bit and enjoyed it.  Soccer is not my first love but it does provide some entertaining action.  I, like most Americans, still struggle to pick up on most of the sport but it is growing.

If players like Danny Welbeck keep scoring goals like this, you might see an uptick in viewership.  In fact, soccer ratings are slowly picking up in the US.  You can not declare that soccer is here to stay yet, but it is slowly making the way up the ladder.  It does provide some great moments.

Once we get a USMNT to look good in a World Cup, then the views will come in.  It is just a matter of time.  You have to crawl before you can walk.  Soccer in the US in transitioning there right now.
