Arsenal are said to be looking towards AC Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy ahead of the January transfer market.

El Shaarawy is currently experiencing his breakout year at Milan following his debut with the club last season. The young attacking midfielder is the team’s top scorer this season with 13 goals, and the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer has forced El Shaarawy to shoulder a lot of responsibility.

But the player has not shied away this season, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be a big admirer of the Egyptian. When asked about the player Wenger told Eurosport, “El Shaarawy is a very mobile, very technical young player. His philosophy fits perfectly with mine.”

It might not be the signing to lift Arsenal fans’ spirits at this stage considering the player’s age, but El Shaarawy is exactly the type of fearless talent who could ignite Arsenal’s season and push them on to fourth place in the Premier League table.

With Theo Walcott’s contract negotiations still ongoing, the club will need to address that position in the team should Walcott leave. El Shaarawy is a versatile player who is comfortable in any of the advanced attacking midfield roles.

Wenger is under a lot of pressure to spend in the January transfer window, and even though El Shaarawy is Milan’s most valuable asset at this stage, the club have shown that they can be forced to accept large transfer offers.

The player has shown plenty of confidence in front of goal this season and there’s every reason he will become one of Europe’s most exciting attackers in the near future.
