After triggering Ba’s release clause worth seven and half million pounds, Chelsea FC has signed Demba Ba to a three and half year deal. So far this season, Ba has 13 Premier League goals.

Ba wanted the move to be completed earlier during the transfer window, so Newcastle United could find his replacement.

“It was important for me, and for Newcastle, to get my future sorted and now we can move on,” he said. “Now they have the whole month to buy someone and, for me as well, the sooner, the better. Now I am here I just need to get settled in.”

Ba mentioned that Newcastle, West Ham United, and Chelsea all have a rich history, but Chelsea is like no other.

“This club is at another level – it isn’t West Ham or Newcastle,” Ba told Chelsea’s official website. “They are both big clubs with a strong history, but Chelsea is Chelsea and you cannot compare. It will be easier with world-class players around, who make the football look so easy.”

The move to Chelsea was an easy one for him. When a high-caliber club wants you, the decision is easy according to Ba.

“When the club who won the Champions League wants you, the decision-making is very easy. This club is massive and that’s something that helped the decision a lot. It was not a hard one.”

For Newcastle this move is disappointing, but expected with the release clause Ba had in his contract. If they want to stay competitive and out of danger of being relegated, New Castle will need to find Ba’s replacement this transfer period.
