Parke Earns Call-Up to U.S. Squad

It is the first time that a Philadelphia Union player has been called up to the United States men’s senior National Team. Announced on Jan. 6, defender Jeff Parke was named to the USMNT camp. The team will start training on Jan. 7 and will train until Jan. 27.

For Parke this is his second opportunity on the US National Team. His first call-up was a little over a year ago on Jan. 5, 2012.

The team will only have one match before the start of the final round of qualifying. They will face off against Canada on Jan. 29 at BBVA Compass Stadium. The first touch is expected at 9 p.m. EST. After that match, U.S. will start the qualifying round on Feb. 6. The U.S. and Honduras will face off in San Pedro Sula.

In addition to the hexagonal qualifying, the U.S. National Team will compete in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Below is the list of those called up to camp.

MIDFIELDERS (8): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (out of contract), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Joshua Gatt (Molde), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
