EPL Transfer Rumors: Manchester United Closing in on Wilfried Zaha?

Despite the fact that Manchester United has been one of the top EPL teams this season, they won’t be complacent when it comes to the January transfer window.

Although several teams were in the race to sign Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, the Red Devils appear to have taken the lead and are only left in competition with Arsenal to land the services of the outstanding winger. If manager Sir Alex Ferguson has anything to say about it, Manchester United will win this bidding war as talks between the two clubs continue.

The only thing standing in the way of the 20-year old Zaha making the move at this point is an agreement on how much Crystal Palace will receive for their forward. The two other teams in the hunt for Zaha, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, fell out of the picture when Manchester United threw down a £12 million package offer that includes add-ons and club appearances. Unless Arsenal, and manager Arsene Wenger, can come back with a similar offer, all signs lead to Zaha joining the Red Devils.

As of right now, Zaha appears to have no preferences as to which EPL team he lands with when all is said and done. However, Arsenal is at a disadvantage seeing as they are likely to sign forward Theo Walcott to a new deal. Walcott has been on the wing throughout his career, which would make Zaha a less-than-ideal fit for the Gunners’ lineup. Meanwhile, Manchester United sees him as a potential long-term replacement for Nani.

At this point, it’s a matter of when rather than if. Sooner or later, Zaha will be a Red Devil and Sir Alex Ferguson will have a new, young forward to work with.
