Joey Barton‘s eventful Twitter antics have resulted in the inevitable outcome, as Paris Saint-Germain threatened to take action following his comments regarding their captain Thiago Silva.

The English midfielder tweeted on Wednesday night following PSG’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona, rather controversial comments about Thiago Silva;

This came a day after Barton had called him ‘Fat Boy’ via the social networking site. The Brazilian defender however put in an impressive performance during the Champions League quarter final, despite his side conceding two goals, he was the stand out performer.

Barton admitted that he had been proven wrong following the match but later tweeted the above comments.

PSG stated on their website, “Olympique de Marseille player Joey Barton launched an entirely unacceptable attack on Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva. These attacks represent a serious incident and go much further than a mere verbal insult.”

It seems they will take legal action defending both the player and the club.

It’s not the first time Barton has been up to mischief, as most know. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he tells everyone including PSG to calm-down but that’s not a stance that Barton can always use, especially in this situation where PSG also claim;

“The Club also restates its unwavering attachment to the values of respect that should be the foundation of our sport.”

The reactions to such incidents and comments are taken differently in different cultures and countries to that of which Barton has spent the rest of his life in.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens next, but no matter how much entertainment the Englishman gives us via Twitter, he’s always at risk of getting himself into trouble.
