Does Tom Carroll have a future with Tottenham?

Youngster Tom Carroll has impressed in his numerous cameos from the bench. He looks assured, technically-gifted with room to grow. But can he become a permanent figure in the Tottenham side for years to come?

There’s an element of ex-Tottenham star Luka Modric in Carroll, and I’m sure over the years the young man looked to the Croatian ace for inspiration. There’s a possibility he could become this new creative midfielder for Tottenham.

He thrives on giving and receiving the ball, and looks nippy and confident when in possession, which is a good sign for a player with such little first team experience.

Maybe Andre Villas-Boas should give Carroll a few first team opportunities in the near future. Maybe giving him starts, with Tottenham involved in such a competitive race for a place  in Europe’s elite tournament, would be a little rash. He must be well wrapped up if Tottenham have him in their future plans.

A product of Tottenham’s youth academy, Carroll could fill the creative void which Spurs have so desperately lacked this season. Other than the obvious striker situation, it’s in these attacking areas where Tottenham have been most exposed this term, lacking the goals and threat from the departed Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart.

Tottenham are now looking to the weekend’s clash with Manchester City. It has been confirmed today that City’s star striker Sergio Aguero will not face a suspension despite his lunge at Chelsea defender David Luiz in the FA Cup semi-final. Hopefully, Spurs will have Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and Younes Kaboul all fit.
