Brazilian star Paulinho, who is currently with his national team for the Confederations Cup, has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

Paulinho, who specializes in tough tackling, strong running and being useful both offensively and defensively, plays for prominent Brazilian team Corinthians. The box-to-box midfielder would fit in very nicely alongside fellow strong players Sandro and Mousa Dembele in the Tottenham midfield.

But, as always with Brazilian players, there are many difficulties in obtaining their services. Spurs are rumored to be close to activating the £17 million release clause which is reportedly in Paulinho’s contract. The Portuguese speaking manager Andre Villas-Boas is also bound to be a factor in Brazilian players signing for Tottenham, in addition to the appointment of respected scout Franco Baldini as technical director.

Along with Paulinho, Leandro Damiao has again been linked with a move to Tottenham. It’s a seemingly never-ending transfer saga, as it appears to be over in every single window — but it never does. Leandro as a very talented forward who has the ability to hold up the ball and distribute it, as well as the intelligence to get on the end of various crosses and finish efficiently.

Of course, it would be a perfect world if Tottenham could just agree the fee and the player joins, but it’s never that simple.

So many “third-parties” have a piece of Damiao. So the difficulty is in settling the fee which satisfies all parties concerned. The transfer saga has been nothing short of torturous for Tottenham fans.
