Pep Guardiola Looking at Former Student Thiago Alcantara

Barcelona

Thiago Alcantara just captained the Under-21 Spanish national team to EURO glory. As the number 10, he orchestrated the midfield and kept the team calm throughout each and every match. This performance caught the eyes of two world-class teams in Europe.

Alcantara already plays for FC Barcelona, but his time may be running out since he is not getting enough time on the field. The team is full of stars like Xavi HernandezAndres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas. With them aboard, not too many players could start in place of them — Alcantara being one of them.

With that in mind, Manchester United were rumored to be looking at him to help Shinji Kagawa create attacks in the final third. Since they play a 4-2-3-1, the Spaniard would fit right in at either LAM (left attacking mid), CAM (central attacking mid) or RAM (right attacking mid).

Since United have not made things happen as of late, Bayern Munich’s new coach Pep Guardiola is looking to bring his former player from Barca over to the Bundesliga to play for him. This reunion seems much more likely to happen.

Alcantara would be joining new transfer Mario Gotze who plays in the same position as he does. However, they also play a 4-2-3-1, which means there are three attacking midfield positions which means he could line up alongside the German. However, players like Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben will only be benched due to fatigue, less meaningful cup games, suspensions, or an unlikely drop of form. This move would simply be to improve the young man as a player and to back up more experienced guys.

Regardless of wherever he ends up, young Thiago still has time to hone his skills and can learn from the best whether he joins United or Munich. Time will tell us everything.
