Exclusive Interview with Two Time Olympic Gold Medal Winner Abby Wambach

Abby's Future

Tom Szczerbowski – USATODAY Sports

It was my distinct honor to have the chance to interview women’s soccer superstar Abby Wambach, a two time Olympic Gold medalist, and was in attendance to present the award for Gatorade’s high school athlete of the year. Wambach opened up about how growing up with older brothers is where she got some of her physical nature and competitiveness from. You can check out the interview below.

The award ended up going to the soccer nominee Morgan Andrews and deservedly so; this was Andrew second time up for the athlete of the year award. Breanna Stewart took home the hardware last year and we all know how that worked out for her. Pretty well I would sa, one season of college basketball and one national championship is not a bad average to be hitting.

Wambach struck me as a very real and down to earth woman and I will be watching the rest of her career with great interest. My thanks to the Gatorade company for another incredible trip this week and it is never a bad thing to be in Los Angeles.

Keep an eye out for my interview with Andrews later this week as well who is a young woman with a bright future ahead of her. There will also be interviews coming up with some of the other best prep athletes in the country. Stay tuned folks.
