Galatasaray: Loss At Napoli Spells Awful News
Turkish champions Galatasaray gave fans everywhere something to worry about after losing 3-1 to Napoli due to three horrendous mistakes on the defensive end.
The only positive was the one attack they scored from Nordin Amrabat ripping a shot into the back of the net from inside the 18. Besides that, there is nothing to be excited about prior to the upcoming season.
The midfield attacks with the two wing backs is almost always sprinting up leaving the remaining defenders and goal keeper vulnerable. Therefore, winning games against quality opponents is more than difficult, hence the 3-1 loss.
This defeat just proves that this team would be easy to defeat in quality European leagues and perhaps the Champions League, which is full of tough opposition. They have one more chance before the season commences to test their strength.
Gala will partake in the Emirates Cup this weekend where they will face FC Porto and Arsenal on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches will be tough and coach Fatih Terim will have the chance to field two different lineups for either match with no one expected to play more than a half a game so they can play against both opponents. How the team performs in this short tournament will determine whether this team needs more assistance defensively or offensively.
Players like Selcuk Inan, Wesley Sneijder, Didier Drogba and Burak Yilmaz will always be there to make something happen, but believe it or not, that list of players is not enough against teams from better leagues who know how to defeat teams that depend on three or four stars.
At the end of the day, this is just a small tournament that is being hosted by Arsenal, but playing at a high level is still of extreme importance as the coach will evaluate everyone who steps onto the field to represent the club. With the season barely three weeks away, the time to start trying hard is right now.
