Chelsea look set to sign Brazilian playmaker Willian, despite the Anzhi Makhachkala man passing a medical with London rivals Tottenham.
With Spurs superstar Gareth Bale looking set for his dream switch to Real Madrid, Willian and Roma winger Erik Lamela looked to set be filling the void at White Hart Lane.
According to some reports emerging, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is so furious with Chelsea’s hijack he’s threatening to pull the plug on the Gareth Bale transfer, the most lucrative amount of money for a player in the history of the sport.
Willian will face stern competition at Chelsea, as the Blues already have a wealth of attacking-midfield options and have already strengthened in that department earlier in the transfer window.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has long impressed for the Ukrainian side and attracted interest from the Premier League over 18 months ago.
He was particularly impressive in matches against Chelsea, ironically, as he looks set to line up alongside the Europa League winners.
Willian’s attributes excel in advanced areas. He has the ability and vision to unlock tough defenses and loves to dictate the pace of the game from all over the pitch.
He has only two caps for Brazil, which is somewhat surprising considering his abilities. It had looked likely he would join Tottenham due to his relationship with manager Andre Villas-Boas, but it appears the lure of Champions League football was too great.
Tottenham could now turn their attentions to Ajax midfield starlet Christian Eriksen as well as continuing their efforts for Lamela. Chelsea look set to launch another assault for Wayne Rooney.
