The Cascadia Derby is only three nights away. The Seattle Sounders will host the Portland Timbers in one of the most anticipated matches of the MLS season. This is not going to just be a regular season game between two decent sides. Instead, it will be a battle of a region in the Pacific Northwest with two teams that have some of the best players at hand; and if we are lucky, we will get to see a winner.

This match also has a huge significance on one player in particular: Clint Dempsey. This man left the Premier League in the prime of his career at the age of 30 to return to the league where it all started. This is going to be his first home match for the club, and it is against their biggest rival in the league. If he manages to score a goal, he will instantly become the club hero.

The Timbers managed a 1-1 draw the last time out in Seattle, and will look to do more or at worst, earn a single point to avoid losing all of the bragging rights. The team is solid in every position, as they are capable of beating any side in this league on any given day. However, Sunday night can prove to be a whole different level for them as the fans, players and the overall atmosphere will make matters difficult.

If they crumble under the pressure, they will lose by more than two or three goals.

At the other end, Seattle have to prove that they can play a game with high stakes. Luckily for them, their newest and most promising acquisition, Deuce (Dempsey), has been here and done this as he managed to score the winner for Tottenham last season at Manchester United.

Scoring in the Premier League is on a whole different level than scoring in the MLS. We are still awaiting his first MLS goal for SEA; therefore, netting his first against Portland would be more than sweet.

Prediction: Seattle 3-2 Portland — the home side will have the majority of attacks and will hit the back of the net three times. At times, however, their lack of focus on defense will cost them.
