5 Teams Affected By The Gareth Bale Transfer Saga

The much-publicized Gareth Bale transfer saga that has taken place over this summer has not only involved Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur (the two teams involved in the transfer), but has immensely affected several clubs throughout Europe even though they didn't have a direct hand in the Spanish club's pursuit of the disgruntled superstar.

Perhaps with the knowledge that their time with Bale will be coming to an end sooner rather than later, Tottenham have made several purchases before finalizing any move away for their star player. With the acquisitions of Paulinho, Nacer Chadli, Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue, the North London club seem to be more than prepared for the upcoming season. Their final planned purchase was the direct replacement of Bale with Willian of Anzhi Makhachkala.

Some frustration has ensued because of the last-minute hijacking by Chelsea for the Brazilian winger, and the deal for Gareth to Madrid could be delayed even further as a direct result of the team's inability to lock the deal down, as they now will turn to plan B in the form of Erik Lamela of AS Roma, a deal which is in the beginning stages.

That said, each of the following teams in this slideshow have suffered and gained throughout this transfer window. A summer like this is hard to come by with so much movement of players, and realizing that this is a season before the World Cup, clubs throughout Europe will have different faces on their respective pitches.

Real are considered one of the richest clubs in the world, according to Forbes Magazine, but that is in terms of the revenue gained in the past fiscal year (June 2012-June 2013). This does not take into account the amount of debt the Madrid club still possesses. In terms of Real’s president’s feeling on the matter, Florentino Perez believes it is a “manageable” debt therefore the investment into Bale is a worthy one.
