With much speculation and rumors on whether Manchester United player Wayne Rooney would stay or leave, he made it very clear Tuesday. According to Sky Sports, Rooney will not put in a transfer request which will end the saga surrounding him.

Following Monday’s scoreless draw against Manchester United, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho talked about Rooney and other targets and said Rooney had “24 to 48 hours” or Chelsea would be moving on.

Well Mourinho, it looks like Rooney is happy enough to remain at Old Trafford, and you will have to search for other transfer targets. Interestingly enough, Rooney made his first start of the 2013-14 EPL season and was arguably the best United player on the pitch.

Moreover, the United fans and their candid cheering for Rooney might have convinced him to stay. Certainly, Rooney’s decision to stay with United does not hurt them at all. Between Robin Van Persie, Rooney, and others, the goals should come for Manchester United and they should win the 2013-2014 EPL title.

It won’t be the easiest to win, but with Rooney staying, it just got a little easier.

Now with Rooney’s decision we can put one transfer saga to rest. With the transfer window closing in about two short weeks, the saga will only get more wild and crazier. However, for Rooney it is now time for him to focus solely on training and doing his part in helping Manchester United succeed this season and repeating as EPL champions. It is a championship or bust type season for United and first-year coach David Moyes.
