After losing 3-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates a week ago, Fenerbahce had pretty much nothing to lose as wining 3-0 against a strong Premier League side was out of the question. They lost 2-0 but still managed to play much better this time around than last.

Emmanuel Emenike started the game and ended up hitting the woodwork in what should have been the equalizer. Another shot did the same thanks to the Arsenal keeper who managed to keep the ball out of his frame throughout the entirety of the game.

Aaron Ramsey netted both goals lifting his tally up to three goals in two games against the Turkish side, making him the Gunners’ most dangerous and valuable player. Let’s remember that he has returned from a lengthy injury lay-off so this burst of form and confidence is the result of overcoming his fear re-injuring himself. He was important and will continue to be so throughout this season.

Fener will now ply their trade in the group stage of the Europa League where they managed to make it all the way to the semifinals last season where they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Benfica of Portugal. With the roster they have right now, advancing just as far this season should not be too difficult, but of course that does depend on the luck of the draw.

Regardless of what happens, coach Ersun Yanal either has to instill a brilliant style into the players’ minds to succeed, or he needs to be sacked immediately before the team wastes a roster with the quality of theirs to go on and have a sub-par season. He is not the worst coach by any means; in fact, he is known as one of the better ones in the nation. Although, no one ever saw the quality in his methods to place him at the helm of Fenerbahce (until this season) who is easily considered a top two side in Turkey.
