Manchester City Shocked in 3-2 Loss in Cardiff
In what is considered to be the shock of the weekend, Manchester City dropped all three points in Wales when they lost 3-2 to a Cardiff City side who have just returned to the Premier League. There were chances aplenty, but for City, only two of them found the back of the net.
Cardiff were led by a brace from Frazier Campbell who was in the right place at the right time to cause the City defense problems. The man himself led a group of teammates who bravely played their hearts out against a team that is considered a title favorite next to the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.
City clearly underestimated the team from the start as their lack of focus for the entirety of the 90 plus minutes ended up costing them dearly. Of course, the absence of captain Vincent Kompany did not make matters any better as his presence is always a key to the strength of that back line. His timely tackling, ability to defend one v one and intelligence of the game allows him to order his teammates to the right positions on the field at all times.
Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, David Silva and Alvaro Negredo all have to improve their form quickly to not let anything like this happen again. In fact, with yet another group stage guarantee in the Champions League, they have to be much better as they have failed to advance beyond that stage in the past two seasons. This year, they have to at least make the Round of 16 as being a top Premier League side deserves that much.
