Besiktas’s Youth Reinforcements Improving Quality of Team
Besiktas has won its first three games of the season under new head coach Slaven Bilic. The entire team has been playing some great soccer, but their youth reinforcements have improved the quality of this team greatly, and this is exactly what this team needed.
The team used to rely on veteran players under Turkish coaches but after a short while, that method simply grew older and was unable to produce consistent results that were needed in championship runs. Therefore, they have not been champs since 2009.
Now, this may very well be about to change.
Last season, the Black Eagles signed Oguzhan Ozyakup from Arsenal, where he developed into the player that he is today. As an attacking midfielder, the kid has added a much-needed youthful approach to the team that has not been seen there in quite some time.
He is fast, strong, quick, skilled and knows how to play the Gunners’ game of passing and running until an open shot is available. This has been very crucial to Besiktas’s performances since last season.
This season, Gokhan Tore was loaned to the club from Rubin Kazan. As a right winger who drops back to help out at times, he is a very dangerous asset in the most positive way as he rules that right flank. He is extremely pacey, which makes it easy for him to run up and down the field at will.
In addition to this, he also has an eye for goal as he cuts inside with skill or waiting for a pass to finish the play off. He has already scored two goals this season.
Within the next couple of hours, a five-year-deal for Fulham‘s left winger Kerim Frei will be completed to bring him to Istanbul. He is very good for his tender age of 19 and enjoys staying near the final third to make plays from that left flank. He is very strong for a smaller player and as expected, he can run for days. His style of play fits in perfectly with where BJK is heading as a team in both Turkish and European soccer.
Inexperience is a factor with these three guys, but with the veterans and the brilliant coach leading the way, they can easily develop into intelligent, mature players while gelling their skills simultaneously. With game time guaranteed, the players as well as the team will definitely improve.
