Turkish Super League: Besiktas-Galatasaray Preview
Besiktas will be hosting Galatasaray next Sunday at 12:00 p.m. EDT in the first Istanbul derby of the season. This will be a great game with home side expected to prevail over their rivals.
Three games have been played thus far with Besiktas winning all of their games, while Gala won the first then drew the next two on the road. Both teams have been playing decent soccer, but one has been outplaying the other against different opponents.
Besiktas’s new coach Slaven Bilic has successfully brought about a new belief in a new system where the defense and midfield are focused, and the offense is producing goals. New acquisitions Gokhan Tore and Atiba Hutchinson has brought about more comfort in the midfield, which prevents them from losing the ball as they had done in recent years.
Another new addition, Kerim Frei (fast, strong, and can assist and score easily in a quick-paced system like this) is also expected to take part in the game as well.
On the other end, Gala will look to boats their newest signing in Bruma — the Under-20 Portugal star who is expected to make arguably the biggest impact at his new club. As a winger, he is fast, swift, skilled, tricky and seems to be wise beyond his years. Look out for this kid.
Gala will be led by head coach Fatih Terim, who recently had his hands full with the Turkish national team. They have won their last two games whereas Gala shared the spoils at both Bursaspor and Eskisehirspor. If he couldn’t manage a win there, managing a victory against BJK will be almost too difficult.
However, Terim always seems to have a bit of magic up his sleeve when there is a really big game at stake. It won’t be easy, but it could be done.
Besiktas-Galatasaray will be the first of many good games to be played this season in the Turkish Super League. This is a definite must-see for fans of the beautiful game.
