The last time Arsenal won the Premier League was back in 2004 during their undefeated season. Of course, let’s remember that this was during the Thierry HenryDennis BergkampRobert Pires and Ashley Cole era. Arsene Wenger was of course still the head coach during that year, which is why they all came together to have perhaps a once in a lifetime super season.

The newest yet most expensive signing in club history, Mesut Ozil, believes that the club has the talent and the right coach to win this season’s league title. Himself, Santi CazorlaJack WilshereAaron RamseyTheo WalcottOxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud are all talented, but putting that talent together to automatically win a title is asking for a bit too much.

Manchester UnitedManchester City and Chelsea have been atop this league for the past three seasons. They not only have the talent but the coaching and experience that has allowed them to stay at the top or near the top of a league that is so difficult to do in.

Arsenal is primarily a youthful side who is led by one or two veterans. This is a team that has a bunch of players who can dribble the ball and pass it quite precisely… but they seem to place most of their focus on playing beautiful soccer. This does not win championships.

United plays, quite frankly, a boring style of soccer. They do whatever it takes to win games … hence the multiple Premier League championships they have hoisted.

Now, Ozil is saying Arsenal can win because he believes in the club and coach but also in his own talents. He won the La Liga title once out of three tries with arguably the best team in the world. Arsenal is nowhere near that amount of talent as a team, but individually, they are truly one of the best.

The Gunners will not win the Premier League this year or perhaps anytime soon … but if the players stick together and learn how to play pretty and successful soccer, they can reach new heights within three years.
