Serie A: Napoli Shocks Milan Through Britos and Higuain
AC Milan hosted Napoli in a Serie A derby that ended 2-1 in the visiting side’s favor. The score line is somewhat just, judging by the gameplay, but this one truly could have ended differently…
Napoli took the lead through Britos in the first half then Gonzalo Higuain doubled the score line early in the second.
Then, right when we all thought the game was going to be right back on, big Mario Balotelli did something shocking and unexpected.
He missed a penalty.
That is right folks, no misreads, errors or lies … he missed a spot-kick that would have put his side right back into the match. If he had scored that, his team could have potentially tied or even went on to win … but that is an “if” that we will never know about form that night.
In the final minutes, Balotelli scored a beauty from open play as he sent the ball soaring into the roof of the net past a helpless Pepe Reina who had a brilliant game.
Napoli scored on their very few shots on goal but they did score just enough to obviously win the match. However, they did let Milan approach their area quite a few times but luckily for them, the home side simply could not find the back of the net often and when they did, it was a bit too late.
Kaka was missing from the Milan side, but they did have enough guys to play a good game. However, they do not have what it takes to win the Serie A this season.
Juventus is a team that is not scoring too many goals but they are getting the job done by either drawing games or winning the ones that they should.
In addition to them, Inter Milan is beginning to find their old form as they themselves ripped a Sassuolo side 7-0 away from home. If they keep firing on all cylinders, they can even be considered early favorites for the title.
However, the one team that is impressing all of Italy is none other than Napoli. Winning 2-1 at Milan is only the beginning of what they are about to do with their newfound talent in Higuain and Jose Callejon while Lorenzo Insigne is a youngster who is stepping up tremendously for his club as well.
