Yaya Toure Continues To Shine For Manchester City

Toure

All eyes were on Manchester this weekend, as the blue side and red side of Manchester collided in the most anticipated derby of the English Premier League season. Both Manchester United and Manchester City look to be title contenders in the Premiership as well as the Champions League this season, and with good reason as they have squads that ooze class and quality all over the pitch.

With all the quality on the pitch it is hard to determine who would be the most inspirational and influential figure on the pitch; look no further than Yaya Toure. Arguably the most versatile midfielder in the world, no one can deny how instrumental a figure Toure has become for Manchester City.

Toure is a calming talisman in the center of the pitch for City, a box-to-box stalwart possessing rare physicality and a skill-set associated with diminutive attacking players. It is obvious to see that Toure received a doctorate in technique while surveying the Barcelona midfield in La Liga. The Ivory Coast International is a pass master, consistently making considerate inch perfect deliveries to his teammates. Toure marauds up and down the pitch, always available to receive the ball and become the catalyst for a City counter attack.

Toure does whatever is needed by the team, and if his current form continues City look like serious contenders to challenge for a trophy in every competition this season. City’s decimation of United on Sunday was a direct reflection of Toure’s dominance throughout the game. The Ivorian imposed his will all over the pitch and continues to be the focal point for manager Manuel Pellegrini‘s Manchester City squad.
