Galatasaray: Team Losing Touch?
Ever since Roberto Mancini took over this club (just last week), Galatasaray has not been performing at its very best. Sure, they just united with the new head man but after their 2-2 draw at Juventus, good things were expected. Well, Super League match away to Akhisar rolled around and the result was less than expected.
A striker by the name of Niasse hit a brace to shockingly put Gala behind at 2-0 with over a half of an hour remaining in the game. Besides him, 30-year-old attacking midfielder Bilal Kisa showed why he is the team’s no. 10. In fact, these two guys connected quite nicely and were unlucky not to have have hit the back of the net more often.
Superstar and legendary striker Didier Drogba hit the lone goal for the lions and were forced to stick with the 2-1 deficit to leave the city with no points whatsoever.
Coach Mancini was forced to switch to an old-fashioned 4-4-2 to control the midfield and force the Akhisar players to work harder going up through the middle into the final third. This did work as the home side struggled make anything happen later on near Fernando Muslera‘s frame.
Right now, we have to realize that this is still just the beginning, When it comes to a derby against Trabzon and Fenerbahce later on in the first half of the season, he will study the match beforehand and get his players to play some of their best games.
Seeing Gala become champions for the third straight year may not be likely, but with Mancini’s help, they will rebuild and become a force one day again soon.
