Tottenham are contemplating the possibility to make a shocking transfer as they are believed to have a strong interest in current Juventus regista Andrea Pirlo.
The Italian international ends his current deal with the Serie A champions on June next year and so far, there haven’t been any contacts talks between both parties to sign a possible extension. The former Milan star is reportedly looking for a two-year deal, while La Vecchia Signora are reluctant to offer him more than one.
Former Italian striker Gianluca Vialli first made the comments on Sky Italia yesterday, where he said that the Spurs could be heavy players for the central midfielder either in the January transfer window or in June. Juventus, on the other hand, are confident Pirlo will sign an extension; that said, they know that if he’s not willing to stay, then the best thing both parties could do is to agree on a transfer.
The big question here, however, is if this move is an adequate one and if Pirlo has the tools to be successful in the Premier League.
Pirlo is one of the most gifted players in the world in terms of technique and his combination of skills, vision and passing style makes him one of the best midfielders in the planet even at 34 years of age. But at the same time, his slow-tempo game and lack of speed in the center of the pitch might not be suited for the past-paced Premier League style.
If the Spurs are able to land him, they would automatically be title contenders and would have one of the best midfielder crews in Europe with players like Dembele, Eriksen and the Italian star dictating the play.
This transfer saga should one of the most followed once the market opens in January, so we will have to wait until next year to see how everything plays out.
