Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is considered one of the most promising playmakers all over the world and despite the fact he’s only 22-years-old, he’s already receiving a lot of attention from the most important teams in the world.

The central midfielder is coming off a stellar campaign with the German side that saw them reach the UEFA Champions League. There, he even scored the only goal of him team, impressing several scouts due to his gifted passing range, his vision and his technique, putting him on the fast track to reach a more competitive league in the near future.

That could be accomplished as soon as the end of this season, as Gundogan has been rumored to be a transfer target for teams like Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid, with the latter already securing a €30 million buy option for the next summer in case no team submits a higher bid for him.

The German international would automatically improve any of those team’s midfield areas as his capacity to fulfill both defensive and attacking roles with ease make him one of the most coveted assets all over Europe. Adding the fact that he’s young, that he has a tremendous upside and the fact that he could still be a cheap transfer, and suddenly there are several reasons why most teams are likely to pursue him once this current season is over.

It remains to be seen if Dortmund are looking to cash in on one of their most important players, but one thing is certain: this could end up being a win-win situation for them. They could either get some cash to improve their team or secure one of the better players in Europe for the foreseeable future.
