Speaking on Spanish soccer show ”Punto Pelota” on Monday night, the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez hinted that his club could make a bid at the end of the season for the Colombian striker Radamel Falcao. Falcao joined Monaco this summer from Real Madrid’s rivals Atletico Madrid and has already scored seven times in nine games for his new club.

When asked about Falcao, Perez said: ”He won’t come in January, but in June, who knows?” The inconsistency of French striker Karim Benzema is probably the reason why Real Madrid is on the market for another striker. If Falcao does join Real, he would be the perfect signing for Florentino Perez’s club. He is exactly the kind of striker they need. Unlike Karim Benzema, who is a creative player who can drop deep in midfield and provide passes, Falcao is a No. 9 … a pure finisher. He plays off the last defender’s shoulder, offers a great presence in the box (something Real have lacked at times this season), times his runs to perfection and is always at the right place at the right time. His ability to hold the ball with his back turned to goal would also be a great asset for Real.

With his goals, Falcao would help Real be less dependent of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the only prolific goal-scorer Real Madrid have got at the moment. Gareth Bale, brought in for 91 Million Euros, is accumulating injuries at the moment and hasn’t been able to contribute much. Furthermore, Falcao has proven more than once that he could deliver on big occasions. He scored on both Europa League Finals he played. One was the game-winning goal for FC Porto in 2011 and a brace for Atletico Madrid in 2012 as they easily beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in May 2012. He also recently scored for Monaco, earning them a point against Paris Saint Germain in a 1-1 draw in Paris three weeks ago.

Radamel Falcao joining Real Madrid is nothing but a fantasy at the moment. The striker just joined Monaco and will more than likely finish the season in the French Riviera but should he join Ronaldo and Bale at Real and repeat his performances from the last four years, he would form with the Portuguese and the Welshman, the deadliest trio in Europe.
