UEFA Champions League Preview: Manchester United-Real Sociedad
Manchester United has been on everybody’s mouth this season as their transition from Sir Alex Ferguson to David Moyes hasn’t been as smooth as they thought it might be. However, they will be able to put all of those things aside as they host a Real Sociedad side that needs the three points if they want to keep their Champions League qualification chances alive.
The Red Devils are currently the leaders of Group A with four points in two matches, while the Anoeta side are sitting in fourth place after two losses against Shakhtar Donetsk and Bayer Leverkusen.
The Old Trafford outfit have several key players that can be difference-makers at any given moment, but no one is more important for the team than Wayne Rooney right now. The British international is the undisputed leader of the team both on and off the pitch, and he seems to step his game up every time his team needs him the most. Look for him to have an outstanding performance against a very tough defensive unit.
Real Sociedad are a team that rely heavily on their collective strength, and they are known for employing a very defensive tactic when playing away from home. One of their most consistent performers is goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, and his performance will be key to maintain La Erreala in the game early on when the Red Devils put the pressure against his goal.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Real Sociedad
Despite their early struggles this season, Moyes’ men won’t have much trouble to get past the challenge of Real Sociedad. A stunning performance from their forwards and a solid outing at the back will be enough for the home side to get another much-needed win in the tournament.
