It’s no secret that David Moyes has had several issues in his first months in charge of Manchester United. The former Everton boss has struggled mightily to start the season, and the team hasn’t reached the level of play many expected they would be able to show.
One of the most notable problems has been the offensive performance. Wayne Rooney aside, neither striker has been able to perform the same way they did last season and it seems like they need urgent help upfront. That could change if they are able to make a move for Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish international is one of the deadliest strikers in Europe and after his stellar season with Borussia Dortmund last year, his name has been linked with some of the most important teams in Europe like Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich just to name a few. But reports indicate he might end up playing at Old Trafford in the near future.
Lewandowski has been offered to the Red Devils, and this is a move Moyes should consider making as soon as possible. The arrival of Lewandowski would take some pressure off Rooney and would add another dangerous player in an offensive line that already includes the likes of Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez. In addition, having Lewandowski as the main striker would allow Rooney to operate on a deeper role, where he has shown flashes of brilliance in recent years.
No official bid has been made and there has been no announcement from Dortmund on whether they would let their player to negotiate with other teams. But one thing is certain: if Manchester United have the chance to sign Robert Lewandowski, they should do everything in their power to make the deal.
It might be the confidence boost the squad needs to turn things around.
