Super League: Trabzon Loses to Second-Place Kasimpasa
In a game that produced some fine goals, home side Kasimpasa ended up with the spoils after ending the match one up on Trabzonspor by a score of 3-2. Both teams fought hard and long but the home side was favored by fortunes at the end of the night.
Now, Kasimpasa sits second in the Turkish Super League with 19 points, just three behind Fenerbahce while Trabzonspor are now in 10th and stuck with 14 points.
After watching the home side play a pretty game of soccer, they proved once again that they have what it takes to finish within the top four and perhaps earn a spot in the UEFA Europa League for next season. With Ryan babel leading the attack, this team can rely on the talent at hand to make some noise on the European stage.
As for Trabzonspor, this team is already leading their Europa group with seven points as they are ahead of Lazio who has five. Their worst result thus far was a 3-3 draw at home against the Italian side as they dropped a 3-1 lead inside the final five minutes of the fixture.
This was actually one of the more entertaining games in the Super League thus far as the home side always gives their big opponents a run for their money. The last time they hosted a tough team was Fenerbahce but the result of that one was 3-2 in the visitor’s favor.
Judging by today’s game, they certainly learned from that loss because they did not sit back nearly as much and attacked without fear. If they keep that up, finishing as one of the league’s elite this season should not be a problem.
