The fourth round of the Football League Cup will see two Premier League squads going against each other as Manchester City will travel to St. James Park to take on a Newcastle side that needs a win to regain their confidence after a poor start to the season.

Manchester City will come into this match after defeating Wigan by five goals in the previous round while Newcastle got past the challenge of Leeds United. Due to the large number of matches played in recent weeks, it’s likely that the Citizens could use a few players that aren’t regular starters. Out of all the players left to be chosen, one that could prove to be key is the Montenegrin forward Stevan Jovetic.

The former Fiorentina icon hasn’t seen minutes on a regular basis this season, but he’s a talented player that can create a difference in any match when given the chance.

Newcastle will have a tough task ahead of them as Manchester City have a more talented squad, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pull off an upset. Most of their offensive efforts will be led by Hatem Ben Arfa as the French is enjoying a very good year at St. James Park. Their defense will be led by defender Fabricio Coloccini and the forward line is highlighted by Papiss Cisse. These players can swing the momentum towards Newcastle at any given time.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 Manchester City

The Citizens have much more quality and that will be shown in this game. Manuel Pellegrini’s men will have a tough game at St. James Park, but they will be able to come out on top after the final whistle.
