The fourth matchday of the UEFA Champions League got underway and with eight matches being played, there was a lot of action all over Europe.

Important teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain all saw action today and while some sides had easier matchups than others, the emotion and the excitement of Europe’s biggest tournament was felt in every single stadium as very important venues like Juventus Stadium, Etihad Stadium and Allianz Arena saw some of the most important players in the world.

For any soccer fan, there’s truly no biggest tournament than the Champions League. It’s the only competition that gives the fans the chance to see players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Arjen Robben, Arturo Vidal and Sergio Aguero on the field against some of the top opposition in the world. The champions of the better European leagues all have a chance to claim the crown as the best team in the competition and today, most of the candidates took another positive step in their quest to clinch the title.

There were some expected results and some shocking storylines this Tuesday that saw some teams clinching their berth in the next round of the tournament. A very entertaining match in Italy, a qualification clinched in Germany and a great journey for the two English sides were some of the notable results that occurred today.

5. Bayern Advances to Next Round

It was widely expected that Bayern Munich advanced to the next round and they did it with ease, defeating Viktoria Plzen at the Allianz Arena. The squad led by Pep Guardiola maintains their perfect record after four matches, and they clinched their spot in the round of 16 following another great display.

4. Manchester United Are Still Unbeaten

Despite some struggles in the Premier League, Manchester United still haven’t loss in the Champions League. After drawing against Real Sociedad, the Red Devils have eight points in four matches and they are getting closer to qualifying to the next stage of the tournament.

3. PSG Draw against Anderlecht

The French outfit were a lock to get the three points against an Anderlecht side that hadn’t scored in their last five matches away from home in the Champions League, but ended up getting a draw thanks to a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Ligue 1 champions will need to step their game up if they are to advance to bigger stages in the competition.

2. Manchester City Win against CSKA Moscow

Manchester City needed to win to secure their place in the next round, and they did it convincingly as they won 5-2 against CSKA Moscow. Manuel Pellegrini’s men now advanced to the next stage for the first time in their history and look poised to make a historic deep run in the tournament.

The ‘Clash Of Titans’ between Juventus and Real Madrid ended up being a thriller where both sides tried to push forward, looking for a much-needed win. In the end, Juventus got the lead and ended up rallying back to get a point that doesn’t help them much. Real Madrid, on the other hand, are one point away from clinching their place in the next round.
