Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez Can’t Afford A Third Horror Miss
Manchester United‘s Javier Hernandez cannot afford to repeat the misses he has made any time soon, having failed to find the net in horrific fashion twice within the past month.
The Mexican striker relies on his goal-scoring ability to keep him at one of the world’s biggest clubs, and it is his poaching ability that makes him a great forward. But within the past month, he has wasted two great chances that may well come back to haunt him. On Tuesday night in the Champions League, ‘Chicharito’ fired a shot from just a few yards out way over Real Sociedad‘s cross bar.
It was a chance that cost United a win, which could mean a tough Champions League group stage finale in the long run.
In mid October, Hernandez missed an equally shocking effort for his nation Mexico against Costa Rica, but he was fortunate that they managed to still win. That said, my point is that if Hernandez wastes any more chances in the near future, not only will his confidence surely drop, but his reputation too.
Finding the net in a poacher’s style is Hernandez’ game. He is usually lethal, but with his game time at Manchester United being limited, you can’t help but feel such misses will diminish any chance of future starts more, given that Manchester United’s striking options are so talented.
This is not a criticism of Hernandez, but if he wastes any more chance, what will his future at United be like?
