Real Madrid Make a Statement in Win over Real Sociedad

Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid got another convincing win in front of their fans this Saturday morning. Los Merengues hosted Real Sociedad at Santiago Bernabeu and led by Cristiano Ronaldo, the hosts dominated from start to finish on their way to a spectacular 5-1 victory against one of La Liga’s top teams last season.

The Portuguese superstar scored three times and now has netted 16 goals in only 13 matches. It was Ronaldo’s second hat-trick in the league this season but most importantly, he seems to be the leader of the team as he starts and usually ends all of the attacking movements of Los Blancos.

Sami Khedira, who could land in the Premier League next year, and heavily-criticized Karim Benzema also found the back of the net against La Erreala. Real Sociedad were able to pull one back thanks to Antoine Griezmann, but they were simply outplayed by a much better home side that has some of the best players in the planet.

Real Madrid seem to be a much better side than they were at the beginning of the season. After losing to Barcelona, it seems like Carlo Ancelotti was able to find a consistent starting XI, and the results have been astonishing: three straight wins where they have scored 15 goals.

It’s a cliche to say that a good offense can overcome any kind of defense, but Real Madrid are showing that the principle might be true. As long as Ronaldo can stay hot and the rest of the team can create chances, Los Merengues will continue being title contenders for the reminder of the season. They surely look like possible champions after this performance.
