There’s little doubt that Barcelona boasts one of the best teams in the world. The quality of players like Lionel Messi, Neymar and Xavi make the team favorites in every competition they participate in, but one of their most prized assets could be on his way out of Camp Nou: Andres Iniesta.

The Spainish international hasn’t renewed his contract with Los Cules and he could leave Barcelona in the near future if no agreement is made to sign an extension. Since his deal runs out on 2015, the team has until December next year to strike out a deal before he can negotiate freely with other teams.

The delay in the contract renewal talks could be a sign of things to come and according to several sources, a transfer is not discarded as a possibility since they’re not willing to let him walk away for free.

The Spanish press reported today that the renewal is on the right path, but one of the journalists that cover the team daily, Carles Fite, begged to differ. He mentioned that ‘El Cerebro’ is not happy in the team for several reasons, including his playing time, his position on the pitch and the departure of Victor Valdes.

If the midfielder opts to not re-sign, Barcelona would be forced to sell him, even though it’s clear that they would get an impressive return as he’s considered one of the best players in the world.

Iniesta’s departure could spell trouble for Los Cules in the near future as they surely don’t want to miss one of their most important players. There’s little doubt that they will do everything in their power to prevent the departure of one of their stars.
