Future Golden Ball Winner: Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo

Witters Sport

The intangible stock value of future Golden Ball winner Cristiano Ronaldo continues to ascend at record pace.

The Real Madrid international winger helped classify the Portuguese squad to the 2014 FIFA World Cup this afternoon with a hat-trick to defeat Sweden. Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s dream of appearing in a World Cup is now history, and shattered by an impressive CR7. Even though, Ibra’s execution was lethal against Portugal today, on such a big day, heroes are called upon to light the sacred flame. Despite having scored twice to run down the sidelines to celebrate, there was another player who eclipsed Ibra’s performance with a flawless hat-trick, nerves of steel, and the victory chant.

Ronaldo is having a breakthrough year in international soccer; his elite form at Real Madrid has also had a strong effect with the Portuguese national squad, and on a day such as today, we can appreciate his value. Ronaldo continues to amass his legend after a recent encounter with FIFA President Joseph Blatter, in what appeared to be an ironic exchange in favor of Barcelona‘s Lionel Messi as favorite candidate to win the Golden Ball. Ever since that day, it appears as if Ronaldo is out every match to play better soccer, and has made his personal mission to salute Blatter after every goal. The good players deliver at club level, but legends are made in the World Cup. The “Legend of CR7″  is a good enough reason to pick Portugal as one of the favorites next summer in Brazil.
