Manchester United: 5 Players Club Should Target in January

Manchester United's up and down season continues as under fire boss David Moyes looks to add at least one high profile signing in order to save an otherwise pathetic season. Replacing Sir Alex Ferguson was always going to be a monumental task, and Moyes has proved on many occasions he is not the right man for the job. Nevertheless, he has the opportunity to prove his doubters wrong if he is successful in the January transfer window.

United desperately needs a midfielder who can add some much needed creativity. A player with the quality of Paul Scholes is what United needs the most; he has been sorely missed. While he will never truly be replaced, he can be emulated, and there are several young midfielders in Europe who have the potential to be spectacular if they can continue their fine form.

Other main needs include a left sided defender who can put Patrice Evra on his toes, seeing as Alexander Buttner has been otherwise unable to complete said task. Evra is in the final year of his contract and United should start looking for his successor sooner rather than later. Leighton Baines has been earmarked for the role, but personally I would rather see a young player full of potential occupy that position.

I believe that United are relying too much on Robin Van Persie; he was able to keep away from the injury bug under Ferguson but seems to be back to his Arsenal ways as he is being over utilized by Moyes. Look for United to bring in a striker who can ease the pressure, seeing as Chicharito does not scare opposing defenses.

Moyes can turn around this season sooner rather than later if he is able to spend wisely and bring in a superstar. United and its fans need a statement of intent, and they will not be happy with fighting for fourth spot when they deserve to be at the very top.

The Real Madrid defender was almost on his way to United during the summer, and if given the chance he is the ideal candidate to replace Patrice Evra.

4. Arda Turan

Arda Turan is one of the world’s most underrated wingers and deserves to play for a top team. No offense to Atletico Madrid, but he has the potential to be a real game changer.

3. Ilkay Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan is the best option for United. He is a combative and creative midfielder, and if Moyes has the guts to give him a chance he could save his job. This is a wonderful player who is going to be the world’s best -- mark my words.

2. Koke

Koke is one of Spain's brightest prospects and looks to be the new Xavi. He is still very young but has the potential to be a United legend. I understand that people have their doubts, but if given the chance he will shine in Manchester.

1. Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao “El Tigre” is the most prolific No. 9 in the world, and the prospect of being paired with Robin Van Persie could turn United's season around. Moyes is going to have to break the bank, but this would certainly entice United fans.
