English Premier League Preview: Cardiff City-Arsenal
With Arsenal coming off a great win against Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions League and Cardiff City stealing a point against Manchester United this past weekend, both sides will play what should be a good match in the Premier League this Saturday.
The Gunners are sitting in the first place of the standings with 28 points in 12 matches, while the Welsh side hasn’t struggled as much as expected in 15th with 13 points.
The team led by Arsene Wenger has been on an absolute tear since the start of the year, and it seems like this year that they will be able to end their silverware drought. Much of their success this season can be credited to their midfield, but there are three players in particular that have stood out above the rest: Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere.
While the latter two are finally showcasing all their potential, the German international has been a total difference-maker for the London-based side since arriving from Real Madrid this past summer.
Cardiff City, on the other hand, will have to have a solid collective outing if they want to take anything from this game, but the play of Gary Medel in midfield can surely increase their chances. The former Sevilla star is the holding midfielder of the team and he will be one in charge of stopping Ozil and Wilshere. If he’s able to do it successfully, Cardiff could pull the upset at the Millennium Stadium.
Prediction: Cardiff City 1-2 Arsenal
The Welsh side could score if given enough space, but Arsenal’s overall quality will be too much to handle for the recently promoted outfit. Despite a hard-fought effort from the hosts, The Gunners will end up getting the three points to maintain their top position in the standings.
