La Liga: Real Madrid Brilliant Without Cristiano Ronaldo
After defeating Galatasaray in the midweek Champions League group stage action, Real Madrid picked up right where they left off with a 4-0 clean sheet over Real Valladolid.
The best player of the night has to be the man who has truly stepped up in Cristiano Ronaldo‘s absence: Gareth Bale. He managed to score his first ever hat-trick for his new club in addition to recording his brilliant assist for the only other goal of the game to Karim Benzema.
Valladolid created some chances here and there, but they were truly forced as the four man back line of Madrid were always going to be firm with Diego Lopez right behind them between the posts.
The 4-2-3-1 has continued to be brilliant for this Madrid side as there is enough depth in the midfield and up top for the team to rely on their skill, speed and intelligence of the game. Their performance is making Carlo Ancelotti look like an absolute genius.
The best part of this is that the Whites are playing so well without their superstar and best player on the team, Ronaldo. He was responsible for scoring most of the goals during every game, but now with Bale finally hitting his stride the Portuguese winger is not being missed at all.
Once Ronaldo returns from injury to play with Bale, this could hinder the speed aspect as Angel Di Maria has filled the vacant shoes down the left flank with his speed, skill and brilliant crossing. He can even score if need be, but he has truly learned how to become less selfish on the ball. This is something that Ronaldo should work on, but he is known as the team’s best scorer by far.
Once CR7 and Bale learn how to mesh together this team will truly be a force to be reckoned with. If they can make that happen before season’s end, they can still win the La Liga title in addition to putting up a fight for the Champions League as well.
