Schalke 04 wunderkind Julian Draxler could be on his way out of the Veltins Arena in the near future. The German playmaker is considered one of Europe’s brightest talents, and there are several teams reportedly interested in his services. One Premier League side, however, is rumored to be close to completing a move for him.
According to reports, Arsenal could be inches away from sealing the deal, and the German international would join the team after the World Cup next year. The Gunners have been scouting him since last year and after seeing his growth, Arsene Wenger is rumored to have given green light to complete the move.
Draxler would add a whole new dimension to Arsenal’s attacking game. He has the pace of a winger and the skills of an attacking midfielder, and his style of play would fit perfectly in the fast-paced Premier League. Draxler could play on either flank or behind the lone striker, and he would make a deadly creative partnership with Mesut Ozil.
If Draxler arrives, Arsenal would take another step in becoming a German colony in the Premier League. Aside from Ozil and the possible arrival of Draxler, the Emirates Stadium outfit also features Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky, a Czech midfielder that spent several years with Borussia Dotmund.
No figures have been discussed yet, but it has been rumored that Schalke 04 are expecting to receive around €30 million if they were to sell their star.
Based on Arsenal’s play this season, midfield is definitely an area that doesn’t need an upgrade with players like Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini being at their best. Draxler’s arrival, however, would definitively put the team on another level, and he could end up being a difference-maker in their quest to win the title.
