David Alaba has recently extended his Bayern Munich contract until the year of 2018.
The young man plays down the left side of the defense, which is what makes him so dangerous. He is strong for his rather smaller figure; he reads opposing attackers smartly and knows how to play under heavy pressure inside his own third.
He truly is a smart play defensively.
When it comes to the offense, he runs up that left wing like there is no tomorrow and takes every single game seriously. He can dribble past players at will without looking back and knows who to pass the ball to and when to do so.
Another aspect of his game that makes him so special is the fact that he can play almost anywhere in the midfield as well. He has a seemingly never-ending knowledge of the game and is willing to learn something new during every single match that passes by.
Coach Pep Guardiola is surely delighted with this move since he has locked up the present and far future of that position with the services of Alaba. Whether he plays a 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or a 4-1-4-1, the young Austrian international will have the same job under his coach: defend when need be and run up the field like a maniac to boost the attack.
Munich was already considered the bets team in Europe after winning the treble last season, but by locking up this guy for a further five years, they just became that much better. In fact, they can actually build the defense around him, as he will need to connect with guys perfectly in that back line once some of the others do eventually leave or hang up their boots.
