AC Milan: Mario Balotelli Rescues the Rossoneri From Defeat Against Livorno
Dominated by Livorno throughout the game, AC Milan managed to get the draw (2-2) and rescue a point thanks to Mario Balotelli. Milan has won only four games since the start of the season. The rossoneri still haven’t won two consecutive games this season in Serie A and remain 8th on the table.
Those who thought that Milan was back on the right track may have to think again. Massimiliano Allegri‘s men almost conceded their sixth defeat of the season in Serie A in Livorno. Against a Livorno team that had lost its last three games, the rossoneri have lost two more points that could be very costly come the end of the season. With this disappointing result, the pressure is still on Allegri’s shoulders.
Even though Livorno’s performance made it difficult for them to get the win, this result is more the consequence of a disastrous performance by Milan players. Except the first 15 minutes in which they scored the first goal of the game by Balotelli at the 7th minute, the Rossoneri were never able to control the game. Luca Siligardi equalized at the 26th minute for the home team with a brilliant left footed finish to beat the Milan goalkeeper Gabriel.
Livorno would be rewarded for their domination at the 58th minute with a goal by Paulinho. Perfectly served in Cristian Zapata‘s back by Siligardi, the Brazilian striker slotted the ball under Gabriel’s body with a powerful right-footed strike. After this goal, Livorno seemed on its way to get its fourth win of the season until Balotelli’s free kick at the 84th minute. The Italian international could have even won the game for Milan, but his strike hit the crossbar.
AC Milan go a miraculous point thanks to Mario Balotelli but will need to play a lot better in its next three games. The rossoneri will play Ajax on Wednesday for a spot in the Champion’s League round of sixteen, Roma next weekend, and then the derby against Inter Milan to finish the year. The result of those three games could determine the future of their manager Massimilaino Allegri.
