Manchester City have developed a knack for performing in huge games this season, and the team is finally looking like they’re putting everything together under Manuel Pellegrini’s management.

The Citizens already defeated Manchester United earlier this season, and after a solid win against Bayern Munich at the Champions League at midweek, the team confirmed their elite status with a spectacular 6-3 win over current Premier League leaders Arsenal.

The attacking portion of the team worked like a charm today at the Etihad Stadium. From Pablo Zabaleta – who played one of his best games as a Citizen in recent years – in the right flank to the Yaya Touré – Fernandinho tandem in midfield and the performance of Sergio Agüero upfront, Manchester City played admirably against arguably the top team in the league this year.

Agüero, Álvaro Negredo, David Silva, Yaya Touré and a brace from Fernandinho were the goals the team needed to overcome The Gunners, and their victory today was never in doubt. Their defensive line was quite solid, their midfield dominated all over the pitch and with their forwards playing at their best it was only a matter of time to see them getting a convincing win. But it only gets better when the three points are conquered against a direct opponent in the title race.

Manchester City was considered contenders before the start of the season. While the team has gone through some ups and downs under Manuel Pellegrini’s management, it looks like the team is finally getting it together. While it’s clear that they won’t repeat this performance on a weekly basis, if they’re able to replicate some of it they will be firmly in the title race until the final weeks of the campaign.
