Liverpool Shows Contending Status After Impressive Win Over Tottenham Hotspur
After years and years of frustrations in the Premier League, it seems like this will be Liverpool’s year to make a deep title run.
The Reds have shown they belong in the Top Four, as manager Brendan Rodgers has them playing at a stellar level at times. Today was surely one of their best games of the season, as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur.
Even with Daniel Sturridge sidelined with an injury, The Reds have a spectacular offensive player in Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan star was the leader on offense for Liverpool today, and he scored two goals that not only helped the team to win, but they also increased his total to make it 10 goals already this year.
Jordan Henderson, John Flanagan and Raheem Sterling also scored; even though the team scored five teams against, supposedly one of the tightest defenses in the Premier League, the overall performance of the team is what should leave the manager really happy. Liverpool dominated Tottenham from start to finish, and the five-goal differential was exactly what was shown in the pitch today.
Liverpool has been showing that they belong in the title race this season, as the team has put up some impressive displays throughout the year. It was rumored that the team was going to be hurt with Sturridge’s absence, but with Suárez on the pitch as the main attacking player and with Steven Gerrard as the undisputed leader of the team both on and off the pitch, Liverpool could go very far this season if things go their way.
Today’s display was certainly a step in the right direction.
