Manchester United Defeats Aston Villa With Convincing Display
There is no doubt that Manchester United needed a win like this away from home to start turning their dismal season around. Led by their young English players that have been very heavily criticized this season, the Red Devils dominated Aston Villa from start to finish on their way to a 3-0 victory that will surely boost the team’s morale as we approach the end of the year.
To say that there was only one team on the pitch might be an exaggeration, but it felt that way at times. Led by the pace of Danny Welbeck, who played his best game for United so far this year, and the masterful play of the midfield, David Moyes’ men established a clear dominance in the first half that was quickly displayed on the scoreboard.
Welbeck found the back of the net twice before the 20th minute mark to put Manchester United ahead, and the team never let their lead go. Tom Cleverley added a third goal early in the second half, and the reminder of the contest was very flat as Manchester United dominated and Aston Villa looked unable to do anything up front.
It’s clear that the win doesn’t hide all the struggles the Red Devils have had throughout the year, but it’s definitely a good start. Led by Moyes, the team now needs to be able to put on these kind of displays on a consistent basis, and the rest will take care of itself as there’s still time left to turn the season around.
