When things are going the right way there’s no need to change them, and it appears that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to employ that thought with the team.
After starting a nice string of results in their last games, Liverpool are a real threat to win the Premier League crown this season. The Reds took another step towards mounting a title challenge and defeated Cardiff City in front of their fans at Anfield Road.
The Reds were absolutely dominant in the first half and their striker partnership once again worked flawlessly, led by a stellar performance from Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan star – who signed a new contract with Liverpool Friday – carried the attacking force of the squad and netted two goals in the first half to build an early lead.
Youngster Raheem Sterling also netted one of his own before halftime as Liverpool led by three goals, an advantage they wouldn’t lose in the second period. Despite the goal from Jordon Mutch, Liverpool’s win was never in doubt as the Merseyside outfit clinched three more points that put them back in a close race with Arsenal to lead the Premier League before the end of the year.
After tying against Everton and dropping one against Hull City, Liverpool recovered to win the last four contests. This last victory against Cardiff City puts them at the top of the standings, and with Arsenal playing against Chelsea on Monday it seems quite likely that The Reds will lead the standings once this match day is over.
